1961 Baja Bug

Aircooled Garage shared Jeff Bates’ upgrade to his 1961 Baja Bug. He started by freshening the stock 1600cc engine with a pair of SCAT 35mm Solex carbs along with a mild camshaft upgrade. This little Baja also had a new chassis designed and built, suspension and steering upgraded, and the rear half of the cage was made removable. Jeff continues to create his dream build. Future upgrades in suspension, exterior and interior will be made as the build moves forward. In the meantime, you can find Jeff cruising in this ride up in the trails of Northern Michigan with his family.
